Who can use the library?

The library is open to any person interested in the language and culture of Spain or Latin America. Library information can be accessed freely in the consultation room without making any prior appointment. Possession of a library card is necessary to utilize the services provided by the library.


What are the Library Hours?

Tuesday to Friday: 9:30 to 19:00
Saturdays: 9.30 to 17.00

Sunday and Monday: Closed


How can I access libray information?

Library information may be accessed through the Web OPAC which regularly updates the daily collection of the library.


How can I obtain a library's membership?

Registration forms are provided and must be completed by the interested users. An annual fee is also required to obtain a library card. There is a discounted rate for students and senior citizens.


How many items may be borrowed and for how long?

A maximum of 4 documents can be borrowed simultaneously.
       • books, music, multimedia : 2 weeks
       • movies: 1 week


Can I renew loans?

Yes, once for every same period, provided that there are no prior reservations, and the return should not be delayed.

Can I request for books from other libraries?

Through the inter-library loan service, users can request documents available in the library network of Instituto Cervantes, as well as documents found in the library collections in Spain.


Aside from Spanish books, can I also find books written in other dialects spoken in Spain or even books in English?

The library is gradually incorporating works in Catalan, Galician and Basque. With regard to the latter, the library also provides a small selection of works and translations in English.


What options do I have if I am not able to find the information I need from the library?

The library offers an information service to deal with any queries related to its area of expertise.  In addition to this, our staff will also help you to obtain copies or the originals of materials which belong to other libraries or documentation centres.


Does the library provide training sessions for users?
