Services

Reading room: Open to the public and free of charge, it gives access to the complete bibliographical collections, including the periodicals section. The holdings can be researched through the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) and through several printed catalogues dealing with particular sections, like that of the E/LE and Filipiniana, Videos, Musical CDs, and the like. New acquisitions are also made known to the public via a specific list.

Borrowing: Only for members and students enrolled at the Instituto Cervantes. Borrowing includes the whole collection, both bibliographical and audiovisual. Some item may not be included and can only be used within our premises (such as reference works or books that are fragile or valuable in nature). Videos can be borrowed for one week, and the rest of materials for two weeks.

Information & Reference: The library provides freely any kind of information regarding the culture and life of Spain and Latin America, from bibliographical searches (covering, aside of our own holdings, the main Spanish repositories) to specific questions (traveling tips, addresses, etc.). We also offer information on scholarships and studies in Spain.

Other services: Through the library you may benefit from the interlibrary loan with other Spanish libraries and from document delivery (we are networked with the Spanish Biblioteca Nacional and with the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas). We offer document reproduction (Xerox-copying service, in accord with copyright specifications), music, film and video screenings at the library premises.
